The use of digital Raps, which were introduced in Commandos: Fortresses of the Future, has been introduced as part of the computer game. All the previous features found in the PC version of the game have also been adapted to other platforms. Unlike its predecessor, Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines has been designed to utilize the power of the modern video game consoles, including X-Box, Play Station and the PC. The game starts with the players assume command of a B-Day patrol boat as it is refitted and prepared for battle. Led by series creator Carl Spivac, the game takes place in World War II and places players into commando duty against the Nazis. A standalone PC game, it was launched in October 2021. Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines is the follow up to Commandos: Tactics of War.
